Golden-hour view from Villa Ullassa's hilltop over the pool, the domed building and the palms toward the horizon

Maduawan · Koh Phangan · Thailand

Above the island, the day slows down.

A private four-bedroom house built into a jungle hillside, open to 180° of sea, sunset and quiet. Four bedrooms, one view, no neighbours.

The villa

Built into the hillside, not on top of it.

Four separate buildings step down a natural jungle slope, joined by stone paths and open terraces. The architect, Bruno Ferrand, kept the granite boulders and nearly every tree, so the house feels like it grew here rather than landed. Solar power, harvested rainwater, a saltwater pool with no chlorine. And from every room the same wide horizon: Baan Tai, Hin Kong, then Koh Samui and the Ang Thong islands beyond.

Saltwater, no chlorine. The last hour of light.

Total privacy

No overlooking neighbours, no road noise. The gate closes and the hill is yours.

Open to the air

Sliding walls of glass and cross-breeze in every room — with air conditioning in the bedrooms for the nights you want it.

Water and warmth

Natural saltwater pool, steam room and a cold plunge under the trees.

Made with care

Solid teak, stone and lime plaster. Solar power and rainwater harvesting, quietly built in.

Yoga & wellbeing

Long mornings, slow breath, nobody watching.

There is space to unroll eight mats on the upper terrace, facing the sea. Steam room and cold plunge below. Private teachers, massage and cooks come to the house — Srithanu, the island's yoga village, is fifteen minutes away when you want company.

  • Terrace for 8 mats
  • Steam & cold plunge
